Bach: Italian Concerto in F major, BWV 971 (Kuschnerova)

A wonderful live performance from Kuschnerova, full of vigour and warmth. The andante is especially stark, utterly devoid of any superficial expressive gestures, and the outer movements perfectly natural, clear, and even (no delayed entries or soft landings for cadences — if you’re used to Bach with rubato this will take a little getting used to, I suppose), with the presto in particular beautifully articulated and tossed off with spectacular derring-do.

00:00 — Mvt 1
04:04 — Mvt 2, Andante
09:16 — Mvt 3, Presto [look out for the superbly voiced passages — e.g., 10:11]
