Marjan Kiepura plays this early composition of Chopin, published posthumously, it is one of his first in the mazurka genre composed in 1827 at age 17. It has unusual depth and inventiveness for a relatively simply constructed piano work. The quiet mood evokes the soulfulness of a “kuyawiak” dance or slower styled mazurka. Chopin would return numerous times to the “kuyawiak” in his mazurkas.
