TUNE A DAY No.138. This is the last of Dohnanyi’s Rhapsodies and is wonderfully dark and brooding. He uses the Dies Irae theme (like Rachmaninoff did, a lot!) to great effect. The last page is in a major key (still managing to sound ominious!) and is fiendishly difficult to play!
