Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Fantasy in D minor, K. 397

My piano amateur recording of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Fantasy in D minor (K. 397), with the ending by Mitsuko Uchida. The “conventional” ending in my opinion is far too shallow to fit to this sombre, serious piece of piano music. I would never take the liberty to alter something that Mozart wrote, but many people are not aware that the conventional ending is not by Mozart himself. Mozart’s autograph ends with measure 98. The ending has been added later by a person called August Eberhard Müller (check the Vienna Urtext Edition for further details). I think that Uchida’s idea to end the fantasy by how it started makes much more sense. The D major part then becomes more a reminiscence of a once happy past, which has gone by.
